How To Be Happy When You Are Sick

When you feel physically ill with nausea, cancer, a cold, or any other disease that makes your body feel bad, then it can be a severe challenge to be happy. The main reason this happens is because we register happiness with how we "feel" and when we feel bad in our body, then it feels as if we can't be happy.

The physical body is one of the greatest hold downs on a person's happiness and transcending the body can be one of the greatest difficulties, but it's possible.

The first thing you should do is recognize that you probably don't like how you are feeling right now. This can be true for you even if you don't have a physical illness as well. When we don't like something, we put forth a mental energy to resist what we don't like. Mental resistance is very subtle and the best way to see it is to reflect inward and notice that you don't like what is happening and recognize that you want it to go away.

Resistance is actually a negative energy that holds your bad feelings in place. The more you resist something, the more you get back of that same thing you are resisting. The universe says "like attracts like" and if you are spending your mental energy focused on resisting or rejecting what you don't like, then you will attract more of what you don't like.

Resistance also robs you of your energy and can leave you feeling powerless. When you are spending all your energy resisting what you don't like, then you don't have much left over to carry out the day or even be positive. You can't sit down and stand up at the same time can you? The same is true for resistance or negativity - you can't be positive and negative at the same time can you? Think about it for a minute.

Now that you see your negativity in the form of resistance, you also see that it isn't helping you, and that you want to be happy - here is the best way to get rid of your resistance and return to feeling happy;

LOVE.

That was simple wasn't it? Don't worry, it is common for most people to not understand how to use love to overcome resistance, illness, negativity and return to being happy.

Here is how I do it; when I feel physically ill, I don't resist how I feel. Instead, I simply say "I love you" to that ill feeling. I repeat it over and over and over again. The first thing that might occur to you is that if you don't resist, then your condition might get worse - that is not true. Let go of your bad feelings as best you can as just say I love you. You don't have to say it out loud if you don't want, but just say I love you to whatever it is you don't like.

Saying "I love you" allows you to subconsciously let go of resisting your bad condition and begin the healing. The more you say I love you, that faster you will heal and the faster you heal, the faster you will actually start feel better. When you start to feel better, your happiness will return. Some people have instant results and for others it takes practice. If you aren't used to using love as a tool like this, then be gentle with yourself and experiment. Be open to miracles and just use this simple technique and watch what happens. 

At first it may seem like nothing is happening or it may feel awkward. This is normal. You see, you have been resisting what you don't like your whole life and that is what you know and what you are comfortable with. Give yourself time to learn something new. You wouldn't expect yourself to read a book on how to play tennis and then expect to play your first game as a pro would you? The same is true for letting go of resistance and saying "I love you" to what you don't like. It may take some time before you feel that power of these words and feel the results.

How much time are you asking? That depends on your dedication and focus to it. You must reach a point where you are saying "I love you" more than you are resisting. The scales must tip in the favor of love before you see results. Meaning, you must be saying "I love you" more than you are hating what you don't like.

Be open and have a little faith in this technique. And if you think about it, what have you got to lose?? Your resistance obviously is making you unhappy or you wouldn't be reading this.

Dedicate yourself to love even if it's for only a short month for experimental purposes. Say "I love you" to everything you don't like, every thought your think, every person you meet. Read articles on love and invest your time in love. You will be amazed at what you discover.
